I ended up having a very good weekend, despite the stress of Friday. The method I chose to fix the middle section of my piece turned out to be the right path to take. I only needed a single evening to get everything in good shape. And once that section was where I wanted it to be, everything else started falling into place nicely. I should have no trouble finishing it on time.
I even had time to go see Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy with Other Kenjari on Saturday evening. It's been so very long since I read the book that I can't really speak to how closely it follows the book. But I dod remember enough about the book to say that I thought the movie captured the feel of it perfectly. I was reminded of how much fun I had reading the book by how much fun I had watching the movie. And the song "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" sure was catchy. In fact, the soundtrack composer, Joby Talbot, was rather clever - he did some wonderful things that played on movie music cliches. Particularly amusing was the arrival of the Vogon ships sequence. While I wasn't thrilled with the visual concept for Zaphod's two heads, I did like the way Sam Rockwell played him. Alan Rickman was a perfect Marvin, too.
