Wedding Song
by Naguib Mahfouz

This book was very short, as you can probably tell by the miniscule lenght of time between this and my last book review. Wedding Song is a rashomon-style tale concerning four people and the way a past series of events affect them. It's a fairly straight-forward novel, very well written. I've read a couple of Mahfouz's other works, and I quite like him. His style (as translated from the Arabic - he's Egyptian) is somewhat spare yet evocative. He's a good writer, and won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1988.
