Kill Bill, Vol 2
Apr. 16th, 2004 10:29 pmOther Kenjari and I saw Kill bill Vol. 2 this evening. It's not as violent as the first installment (which I believe is the most violent movie I have ever seen), but every bit as enjoyable. As with the first movie, my eyes were glued to the screen for the duration. The visuals are just so engaging. I also liked the references/homages to other film styles and genres. There's a whole sequence that pays loving (and lovely) tribute to Russ Meyers' "Faster Pussycat Kill Kill", and a chapter that is pretty much a mini 1970s Hong Kong kung fu film. This volume is more introspective, though. There's less butt-kicking and more character interaction. It's as much the other half of the story as it is a continuation of the story, if that makes any sense. Anyway, talking about the film doesn't quite do justice to the experience of watching it, so go see it for yourself.
