Other Kenjari and I availed ourselves of the convenience of having a movie theater walking distance from our apartment and went to a late show of 3:10 to Yuma last night. It's very good, completely engrossing, and everything I like in a western: grit, action, moral dilemmas, and complicated relationships. Both Christian Bale and Russell Crow are terrific. In fact, I really hope to see more of Christian Bale in the future, as I think he's a fine actor. Alan Tudyk is also in the film as a doctor- oddly enough, I think there are a few similarities between this role and Wash from Firefly/Serenity. I've come to like westerns a lot more than I ever thought I would.

I suggest "The Searchers" if you really want to see similarities with Firefly! It's a classic John Wayne movie. Massively un-PC by today's standards, but interesting.

Glad to hear good things about 3:10 to Yuma. It's on my list of to see movies!

Yup, I've seen The Searchers a couple of times. It's a very good movie, if a little dated in some of its attitudes. My Dad's a huge John Wayne fan, so I've seen most of the Wayne/Ford westerns.

My bro, H, and I saw "3:10 to Yuma" on Sunday after our sing. Great stuff - thanks for the recommendation!
