The Tower at Stony Wood
by Patricia McKillip

A knight is sent out to rescue a woman in a tower. But he finds more than one tower and more than one woman. And what and who he ends up saving is something else entirely. This novel is beautifully written, as are all McKillip's other books. She does an amazing job of weaving together elements of familiar fairy tales and legends into something new and every bit as enchanting. I am very glad that she is still alive and thus able to continue writing these lovely stories.

I liked that one; it had the dreamlike feel I associate with McKillip... :)

I love Patricia McKillip's work. Have you read her Song for the Basilisk or Alphabet of Thorn? The former has musicians and the latter has librarians, and I'm very fond of both. :) Also, the new short story collection has an interesting piece about a bard with the most nail-biting-inducing description of a performance in which virtually everything that could go wrong does...

I've read Song for the Basilisk - in fact, that's the first one of hers I read. I loved it and was hooked. I haven't gotten to Alphabet of Thorn yet, but I will at some point.
