I don't actually think Akhnaten is a bad opera, per se. It's just that I've gotten very familiar with Satyagraha and La Belle et La Bete, and Akhnaten didn't quite live up to the expectations the two other operas had given me. I did enjoy seeing it, all criticisms aside.
